Feeding Frenzy

We noticed whenever it snows that the birds eat even more food during a snowstorm during the day.  We have had numerous birds coming to the feeders and the amount of birdseed I am going through is crazy.  But I don’t mind.   I sit at the table and look out the window while we eat and watch the birds eat too.  I used to have ( and still do)  a habit of reading a magazine or book while I eat but I am trying not to do that anymore.  I have tried getting pictures of the little red finches (? name escapes me) but they are elusive and the photos I took are terrible.

We are starting work on the bathroom sink today.   I am not sure I can even post a picture, it is so gross.

But this wasn’t gross.  ( to me)   It was the first soycheese pizza I made and this is what it looked like before cooking it. I made it on a spelt/wheat crust and it was pretty good.  I would put less soy chesse next time I make it.   It truly did satisfy my pizza craving with no disastrous effects.

Interestingly, I was just out to my boyfriend’s farm and he took me in to show me his new pigeon pens (he raises pigeons). As he was feeding them, he was telling me how they have been eating a lot less since the weather here has started to warm up and that they eat like crazy in the winter as they need more fuel (food) to keep warm. So, I’m thinking that the snow triggers your birds to eat more so they can stay warm. Make sense to me, but I am not nature girl.

Hmmm, soy cheese…don’t think I want to go there.

    Lindalou,
I think that makes sense to me.

My daughter tasted the pizza and said it was edible. She is pretty picky.

My husband and I both enjoy reading while eating. We read a little, talk about what we’re reading, eat a little, etc.

Your pizza looks pretty, not sure about the soy cheese. Apparently, JoAnne’s not crazy about it. Her comment made me laugh.

I was at a cooking class this week and one of the things the chef made was home made pizza with fresh mozzarella, Roma tomatoes, proscutto and lots of arugula on top.

    I miss you.

I’ve never tried soy cheese. I’m glad to hear it doesn’t taste too bad. The pizza sure looks good.

Always see many more birds here during a snow storm too.

They are lovely! I adore watching the birds, the snow behind them makes me smile. Wow, you need to do a healthy cooking blog! (As if either one of us needs another blog!)
